Many mamas around me work or have worked in the healthcare setting. For many, this means working long days while standing on sore feet. Many healthcare mamas also find themselves working right up until the end of their pregnancies. This list is for my healthcare mamas or any mamas who spend too much time on their feet. Stay strong, Mama!

1. Affordable Scrubs!
As a Mama-on-a-budget, I just could not justify investing in an expensive collection of scrubs. I know that some of the most popular brands do offer maternity options, however, I think a few pairs of less-expensive scrubs will get you through those few months of pregnancy just as comfortably.
For my coworkers and myself, the consensus seems to be one brand: Med Couture. While these are not the absolute highest quality scrubs, they were comfortable and more than sufficient for me personally.
I do recommend sizing down at least one size in the maternity pants. I wore a medium throughout my pregnancy when I am typically a consistent XL. Fortunately, Amazon made returning and re-ordering easy.
I think you can get by with rotating through a few pairs if you don’t mind the somewhat frequent laundry or if you are in a setting where re-wearing your scrubs won’t compromise cleanliness.

2. Comfortable Tennis Shoes
I have been HOKA loyal for years now. I have routinely heard this brand recommended by respected physicians and people experiencing foot, back or leg pain.
I do think that high-quality tennis shoes are worth the investment, as these can transition in and out of pregnancy.
It doesn’t hurt that there are many cute colors and styles from which to choose!
I also found postpartum that Nike Vomero tennis shoes are supportive and comfortable. Today, I alternate between my HOKAs and Nike Vomeros whenever I plan to be on my feet.

3. A Supportive Belly Band
If you are on your feet, as many healthcare workers are, a supportive belly band is absolutely essential.
By helping support your back, you will find your pain improved, as well as your fatigue.
Wearing a belly band allowed my to work up until the day I gave birth, as well as helping me to get in daily walks on my breaks and lunches.
As a must-know tip: I recommend wearing the belly band OVER your maternity scrub pants. Not only will this keep your band cleaner for longer, but it also makes it easier to wear maternity pants by keeping them up throughout your pregnancy.

Bonus Item: Compression Socks
Now for me personally, I am still searching for compression socks that I find comfortable. All the compression socks I have tried caused me to have itching on my shins by the end of the workday.
I did push through and wear the socks when I felt necessary, such as for an international flight.
I even tried the ever-popular Bombas brand. The material was high-quality and a good weight, but I still could not tolerate the itching. I did give a pair to my sister-in-law, and another to a pregnant coworker, and this style got rave reviews from both of them.
Given the very generous return policy, I do think the Bombas Compression Socks are worth a try if you are in the market for a pair!
