1. Supportive Belly Band

I faithfully used my belly band for much of my pregnancy.  I found this option to give great support while on my feet at work, taking walks or whenever I left home!

This band was comfortable throughout my second and third trimesters.  It relieved strain on my back and I believe it helped control the stress of my growing tummy on my skin — helping to limit stretch marks.

I really enjoyed walking during my pregnancy and this band was a major reason that walking continued to be comfortable for me all the way until baby was born.

2. Pregnancy Pillow

There are so many different shapes of pregnancy pillows out there, but my experience was with one of the traditional styles.  While there may be some benefits to the more compact versions, I found multiple uses for my pillow through pregnancy and beyond.

Once baby was born, I used the pillow to help support baby during breastfeeding.

I later found it useful for reclining, and even later for my toddler to cuddle with while relaxing or during supervised naps.

3. Under-Tummy Pregnancy Underwear

Underwear during pregnancy should do a couple different things: it should be comfortable throughout your pregnancy (bonus if still comfortable postpartum!) and it should also be a breathable material.

I found this Amazon style to be affordable and comfortable.  I liked the way they were cut to sit below my growing belly, so I never felt any pressure along my pregnant tummy.

4. Protective Panty Liners

One thing that is very common during different stages of pregnancy is some increased discharge “down there.”

It is important to note that for some mamas, panty liners can cause skin irritation, especially when used for long periods of time.  However, I do think there are times when the moisture can become uncomfortable.  Or perhaps you have plans to go to an event or will be traveling and would prefer to feel more dry.

Liners like this can be discreet, comfortable, and easier to change frequently as opposed to changing out different pairs of underwear throughout the day.

5. Stretch Mark Oil

I was surprised when I had a close friend tell me she had gone throughout an entire pregnancy without using a belly oil!

There are many reasons to consider using a belly oil.  It can help with the uncomfortable and itchy feeling of your skin stretching as you move through your pregnancy.  Applying belly oil is also a great way to show your changing body some gentle self care.

I found this belly oil to be the best of any I tried and I enjoy recommending it to other mamas!

6. Cushioned House Slippers

I live in a home with wood floors.  As someone who has never expierenced feet issues, this isn’t something that bothered me until I became pregnant.

During pregnancy, my feet were sore and uncomfortable when walking on hard surfaces.  I found these thick slippers gave my tired feet significant relief.

In my family, you cannot wear outdoor shoes inside.  These slippers became so helpful that I would even pack them along when I went to visit my parents.

I gave a pair to my sister-in-law and she was also converted!

7. Maternity Overalls

Not only do I find overalls to be exceptionally cute on pregnant mamas, but they also proved to be extremely functional as my waist disappeared into a pregnant belly.

The straps hold your pants up, while the loose design allows you to move through pregnancy without any pressure on your precious tummy.

It was also nice to know the bottom of my pregnant belly would not be peeking out over the top of my pants without me knowing!

8. Affordable Maternity Scrubs

This may be a bit of a niche recommendation, but I know many other pregnant mamas work in healthcare, veterinary clinics or other settings requiring medical scrubs.

I was surprised how difficult it proved to find scrubs in-person — even living in proximity to a city as large as Portland, OR.  This came up for me as I was transitioning into a new job and needed last-minute scrubs.

The Med Couture brand available on Amazon was affordable and proved to be comfortable throughout my pregnancy. This particular brand actually came as a recommendation from multiple new coworkers.  I worked up until the day I had my baby–all while wearing these scrubs.

The pants do run quite large and I did have to size down two sizes.  Fortunately, Amazon made it easy to return and re-order the correct sizing.

9. High-Quality Tennis Shoes

Having supportive tennis shoes is absolutely crucial during pregnancy, especially when you have a job that requires you to be on your feet.  Towards the end of my pregnancy, I found that I basically needed to be in tennis shoes at all-times; I even wore a pair to an outdoor wedding!

An amazing pair of tennis shoes is absolutely worth the investment.  My go-to pair ended up being black and white HOKAs that I was able to wear with everything.

Even postpartum, I find myself reaching for HOKAs whenever I plan to be on my feet for an extended period of time.
